When I was asked to screen this film for our community I knew it’d be a new favorite of mine right away. Let me get it straight, we are taking two female minority leads, with a Latina director, talking about women’s reproductive rights? Yeah, I’d say this one is right up our alley. And ladies, I was in for a treat.

I won’t spoil it for you, but you’ll absolutely recognize that this film is not coming from the male gaze and rather from a Chingona director: Natalie Morales. This film not only highlights women’s issues, but does it from a uniquely person-of-color perspective. As it takes us through cultural intricacies such as the “Indian mafia”, a nod to the closeness of immigrant communities, and even what it looks like to be the “others” in a small backwoods town while on a road trip. Of course they put a supremely hilarious take on otherwise hard-to-talk-about issues and it makes for an all around thoughtful film that leaves you feeling seen.

I loved this movie so much, I’ve already watched it twice! It has all the makings of a best friend road trip comedy while facing some harsh truths of womanhood, which is what it is all about.

The co-stars chemistry is undeniable and I was lucky enough to chat with Corpus Christi born, Victoria Moroles. Catch our interview now and do yourselves a favor, mark the calendars for Plan B premiering May 28th!
