Latinas Create World Tour

Wow, what a fun headline right? Hehe okay so maybe it’s a bit of click bait—but hear me out! Last month, I was very excited to chat with a potential investor. While they didn’t exactly work out, it forced me to really dream big about where Latinas Create could be heading. One thing that I haven’t updated you all on is that I essentially cut ties with Hollywood meaning I am not going to do celeb interviews anymore. Why? Simple—they have no budget (for me). So I had to let it go to allow new, paid, opportunities to be cultivated. This turned out to be a smart decision as with the announcement of sponsored blogs I have more interest than ever.

That said, interviewing creators is such a dream come true for me. I love the process of researching, finding unique questions, and amplifying the voices of diverse Latinas. So when the opportunity to get paid for what I love came up I wrote down that if I had unlimited resources I would visit every country on the “what-makes-a-Latina” list and meet the locals.

Now to pause there for a moment, there was a time just prior to the pandemic where I was really doing some soul searching. I’ve mentioned it before, but to really drill it down I had no dreams. Of course I wanted to have a job that paid the bills, which I still want, but I didn’t even know what my passions were anymore. I was burnt out, giving access to my energy and talents to startups that didn’t appreciate my contributions and really just trying to keep my head above water mentally. So, the fact that I am at a place where I can sit with myself and dream again is major. Something else about me is I’m not one to wait around for permission.

So here we are, with my 36th birthday approaching fast, and after spending the last 3 birthdays in my living room—I am headed to Puerto Rico next month! If I’m being honest, this wasn’t something I spent a lot of time thinking about. For context, my mother hasn’t been outside of the country and has been waiting for her passport since January. She’s Texan born, but due to a birth certificate formality was rejected and has to reapply. So I said, “well we can always go to PR?!” Two days later it was booked.

Now, I understand not everyone has the freedom to up and book a trip but the lesson here I want everyone to take away is just do it. Don’t overthink things, don’t wait for permission, and don’t look to others to check off your dreams. I’m so excited to meet the locals and see PR with my madre and doubly excited to begin the Latinas Create World tour! Who knows where the next stop will be, but I know there will be one!

If you have recommendations for PR let me know, I can’t wait to discover the beautiful island. See y’all here tomorrow!
