From Aspiration to Actualization: Mastering the Art of 'Fake It Till You Make It’

Today I wanted to talk about the idea of "fake it till you make it." No, it's not about being deceptive or playing pretend. It's a strategy, a philosophy, a way of motivating yourself to reach your goals. When I was younger I would embody this phrase all the time, until the act became the truth—it worked for me it can work for you too!

Here's how it should go: picture your ideal self. Maybe even two or three people who embody the characteristics you want to be. That's your destination. The person you aspire to be. Now let's figure out how to get you there.

The first step? It's simple. You start by acting the part. Let's say you want to be a top salesperson. Start by embodying the confidence and knowledge that a top salesperson would have. Watch how they interact, how they handle clients, how they dress, and the way they talk. Immerse yourself in that role, practice it, become comfortable with it.

But it's more than just pretending. It's about adopting the habits and mindset that'll get you there. Maybe that means waking up earlier to prepare for the day, or taking the time to learn more about your industry. Maybe it means setting and tracking your own sales goals, even if they're much higher than what's currently expected of you.

And this method isn't just for the professional world. Want to be more outgoing? Start by putting yourself out there more, even if it's uncomfortable at first. Want to be healthier? Start incorporating healthier habits into your routine, even if it feels foreign at the start.

The real trick here is consistency. Keep at it, keep embodying this future self, and eventually it won't feel so much like 'faking' anymore. You're creating new pathways in your brain, forming new habits, and changing your self-perception.

But remember, "Fake it till you make it" isn't about becoming someone you're not. It's about growth, about aiming for the best version of you, and taking the steps to get there. It's about building on what's already inside you, using your aspirations as a springboard towards your future self.

Remember, every expert was once a beginner. They had to start somewhere, just like you. And while the road may seem long and daunting now, each step brings you closer to becoming the person you aspire to be. So, go on and fake it till you make it, because you're closer to making it than you think.
